Happy Friday!! 

What a fun week it was in 2nd grade!  


Early Release and No School!

Thursday, October 6th is an EARLY RELEASE DAY at 12:30pm. 

Friday, October 7th there is NO SCHOOL.  Most teachers will be conducting conferences on both days. 

Monday, October 10th is a district holiday so there will be no school.

We hope you all get to enjoy this fall break!

Next week, we are learning:

Reading: We will celebrate the end of our first reading unit!  We Have Grown Like Beanstalks and We Have Attacked Tricky Words!

Writing:  We will focus on editing our writing and have a small writing celebration at the end of the week!  We will also be discussing the difference of common and proper nouns. 

Math: We will use skip counting to determine the value of a collection of coins up to one dollar.  We will also use the cent symbol, dollar sign and the decimal point to name the value of the collection of coins.  We would REALLY appreciate help from home on this subject as it is usually a difficult concept!

Social Sciences: Historical Figure Research & American Citizenship

  Happy Friday!! 

We had another great week together in 2nd grade!  

                       Conference Sign Up!             

Beginning of the year conferences will be starting soon! Friday, October 7th the students do not come to school, this is designated as Parent Conference Day. It's very hard to schedule all parents on this day because of various schedules, so please be sure to sign up for one time slot per child! The conferences will be scheduled first come, first served. You will be given all assessment data for your child as well as a goal we have for the school year!

Thursday, October 6th is an EARLY RELEASE DAY at 12:30pm. Most teachers will be conducting conferences in the afternoon on this day too. 
Please make sure you sign up for a conference from your teacher's email....

 Happy Friday!! 

We had another great week together in 2nd grade!  

We started Mustang Time this week and the students have enjoyed going into different classrooms and meeting with different teachers to meet their individual needs.  

                                         

Beginning of the year conferences will be starting soon! Friday, October 7th the students do not come to school, this is designated as Parent Conference Day. It's very hard to schedule all parents on this day because of various schedules, so please be on the lookout from your child's teacher for a Parent Conference Sign Up!! The conferences will be scheduled first come, first served- and you will have the option of having them here at school in person, or online video call! No matter which one you choose, you will be given all assessment data for your child as well as a goal we have for the school year!

Morning Meeting Focus: Giving your best EFFORT-- we want to be like High Effort Henry, and not like Low Effort Lisa

Reading: Rolling up our sleeves to tackle tricky words

Writing:  We will introduce revising writing using the ARMS strategy

Math: Locating the position of a number on a number line & 10 more/ 10 Less 

Social Sciences: Combine materials that when put together can do things that they cannot do by themselves such as building a tower or a bridge. How does knowing the physical properties help when building a bridge?

 Happy Friday, 2nd Grade!! 

We had a great short week together filled with lots of fun (Ask your child about Oobleck!!) 

Mustang Time is starting NEXT WEEK!! Every day from 8:00-8:30 your child will be placed in an intervention group or extension group based on your child's needs. Students will work with different teachers during this time (or stay with same teacher) and might remain in the same group for a couple weeks, or longer.

Reading: Identifying a Character and Their Traits; Writing a Summary

Writing: Continue crafting small moment narratives and comparing types of sentences 

Math: Odd vs. Even, Patterns on a 100s Chart
