Customs/Holidays Quilt Project

In your child's folder today, they are receiving a quilt square to complete as a home project. Please read the attached letter for a guide and return the completed quilt squares by December 1st. This is a wonderful opportunity to chat with your child about the holidays/customs you celebrate as a family!! Your child will then present their square to the class. We hope you enjoy this project!

2^nd Grade Parents!

The kids are doing so well in phonics and growing with their spelling pattern knowledge this year. To help with their application in writing, our 2^nd grade team has decided to start doing some "Spelling Checks" each Friday based on the spelling/phonics rules we are learning that week. We will send out the spelling word lists in newsletters the week before and a paper copy in take home folders on Monday. Please help your child practice writing and spelling these words at home. These checks are not being taken for a grade, but will help us plan for small groups in phonics.

Please look for the first word list in this week's newsletter- paper copy will come home Monday!

Sebastian Jaimes-Bullard

Honoring Our Veterans at Austin Elementary
November 10, 2023

Dear Austin Families,

Veterans Day is approaching in just a few short weeks. We are looking forward to having a celebration for all of our Austin family veterans on November 10, 2023.

We would love to invite veterans in your family or extended family to attend our Austin Veterans Day Assembly. During the celebration, we will honor the in-person veterans that attend. We will also honor those who cannot attend by hanging their photo and service information. If you or someone in your family is a veteran, please complete the attached form and send your photo by Wednesday, November 8th. We would be honored to hang your service information and photo whether you can attend the celebration or not.

If you are able to join us on November 10th, please RSVP for the Austin Veterans Day Assembly by November 8th, 2023 by going to tinyurl.com/AustinVeterans23. You can also obtain a copy of the Honored Veterans Template there as well. The assembly will be held on November 10th at 8:00am. Please arrive by 7:45am to allow time for parking and signing in at the office. We will have a breakfast reception for our Veterans following the assembly.
