Solar Eclipse Day is right around the corner!  We are getting very excited for it so we would like to give you some information about our day and how we will be keeping kids safe!

On the day of, we will be outside for about 30-45 minutes.  We will head outside about 20 minutes before totality and we will come back in a bit after to enjoy some eclipse themed snacks!

Our school has provided glasses for EVERY LEARNER! We have made some tweaks to make them as safe as possible.  Our goal is to make them snuggly, but not too tight.  We will be using a pipe cleaner in the back to keep the glasses on like goggles.  We've tested this out and it works like a charm.  This snug fit helps reduce their ability to see above and below their glasses and really will force them to look through the lenses.

Next, we are going to have conversations with the learners about the importance of using the glasses and consequences for not following eclipse safety.  We would greatly appreciate if you talked about this at home with them as well.

Lastly, learners may bring beach towels to sit on as we will be outside and sitting on the concrete track during the eclipse!

Go ahead and place your order, your summer self and your child's 3rd grade teacher will thank you!! 😊
